Caritas Masvingo commends the combined determination by government ministries and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in eradicating all forms of gender based violence (GBV) as they commemorated the 16 Days of Activism against GBV under the theme “Prevention, Protection, Participation and Services; End Gender Based Violence” in Bikita District on the 27th of November 2019.
Addressing the villagers of Ward 12, 22 and Nyika Growth Point Caritas Board Chairman Fabian Mabaya highlighted that men and women should understand the concept explained in the scriptures that women were created from the ribs of men hence its absurd to see the unified flesh conflict and exploit each other.
“I would like to acknowledge the unified efforts by government ministries and non-governmental organisations in eradicating all forms of gender based violence,” said Chairperson Mabaya.
“As men and women, we should take heed from the scriptures which teach us that women were created from the ribs of men. With this in mind, its absurd to see the same flesh conflicting or exploiting each other,” added Chairperson Mabaya.
Trocaire Zimbabwe Director Sarah McCain revealed that she was pleased with the commitment shown by the field officers and the villagers in their endeavours to end GBV, which is a motivator to the funding partner of the SASA Faith Project.
“I am pleased with the commitment shown by the field officers and villagers in ending gender based violence. It motivates us as a funding partner to see that our efforts are being appreciated in the communities,” said Director McCain.
