Chief Beperere succumbs to COVID-19

Chief Beperere of Zvimba passed away over the weekend due to COVID-19.

Alfred Simba Tome aged 70 who succumbed to Covid was appointed a substantive Chief Beperere in August 2014 by former President Robert Mugabe through the former Local government Minister Ignatius Chombo.

Tome once worked in the local government ministry as the Provincial Administrator for Harare between 2005 and 2007.

He was an educationist who worked as a Headmaster in several schools.

A strong traditionalist and advocate of natural resources preservation in Zvimba, Chief Beperere was instrumental in environmental programs by Zvimba Rural District Council.

He was well known for his eloquent English speeches.

Burial arrangements are yet to be finalized
