The meeting also resolved to order a road construction company, Tarcon Pvt Ltd, to redo its works on Chinhoyi roads which were recently rehabilitated following an outcry from residents over poor quality works previously done. The city fathers resolved to task the contractor to revisit the project and make amends.

Meanwhile, Chinhoyi Municipality Town Clerk Maxwell Kaitano told the city fathers that the local authority has failed to fully implement a 2013 Green Finger Consultancy firm’s recommendation to streamline its bloated workforce due to the unavailability of funds for retrenchment packages.

“The recommendations of Green Fingers on the council on the down streamlining of our workforce failed as council failed to raise enough money for the retrenchment exercise. Efforts to borrow the funds failed due to the reason that we are over-indebted and currently do not have the capacity to repay the loan,” he said.

In an effort to increase revenue for the local authority to pay staff salaries, the council has recommended turning its transport and parking section into a strategic business unit
