David Mascott Primary School goes a step further in offering quality education to infants and primary school learners.

Located in the pristine area of Norton within a serene environment in the Mashonaland West Province, the school offers the best facilities in moulding a whole person in as far as education is concerned.

“Our focus is not only on academics. We strive to build a whole person grounded in academics, sports, agriculture, computer technology and sciences. In 2017, David Mascott Country School was the best in the chess tournament held in the Norton area and went on to represent the Chegutu District in Harare,” said Gertrude Mandizvidza, the Founder and Director of David Mascott Country School.

The school has got state-of-the-art basketball, football, netball, rugby, tennis, hockey, squash courts.

Speaking about the school, Honourable Temba Mliswa, the Member of the House of Assembly for Norton Constituency, who has a strong background in sports administration, said the school should be used as a role model for promoting sporting disciplines in pupils.

“My vision for the Norton Constituency and the entire nation at large is to develop sports from the grassroots. I am very pleased by the facilities installed at David Mascott Primary School. There is a saying about children that says we should catch them young and that is exactly what the leadership of David Mascott is doing by bring sporting disciplines perceived to be elite like golf, tennis and hockey right at the school. Mrs Mandizvidza confided in me that she has plans to introduce cricket (her favourite sport) and to me that is the way to go,” Honourable Mliswa said.

The pupils at the school are taught agriculture. There is a blooming maize plant, an orchard, and plans are underway to start livestock rearing.

“In 2017, the pupils grew onions on a large scale. They sold the onions to the local market and managed to raise funds for buying agricultural inputs for the next farming season. There are also fowl runs and some pig sties under construction so that the children will be astute farmers from a tender age,” added Mrs Mandizvidza.

There will be a sports and wellness day on the 30th of June 2018 where the school invited the representatives of the Ministry of Education, other infant learning schools, Star FM, the National AIDS Council, the Centre for Conflict Management and Transformation Trust and the local council, among others.
