Viewers on DStv can look forward to exclusive coverage of the second tennis Grand Slam of 2021, the French Open, live from Stade Roland Garros in Paris until Sunday 13 June.

SuperSport is your #HomeOfSport and the ultimate destination to see all the best tennis action from around the world, including the four Grand Slams.

Last year’s French Open – which was only held in September-October due to the Covid-19 pandemic – saw Polish player Iga Swiatek claim a surprise tournament victory in the Women’s Singles, while Rafael Nadal triumphed in the Men’s Singles to claim a record-extending 13th title at Roland Garros.

Nadal starts the 2021 French Open as the favourite in the Men’s Singles – especially after Austrian Dominic Thiem, a two-time runner-up at Roland Garros, suffered a shock defeat to unseeded Pablo Andujar in the first round on Sunday.

“As always, I need to be ready for it. I need to keep practicing over the next couple of days and try to be in the best shape possible. I know every round is tough; I always respect every opponent. I have appreciated everyone since the beginning of my career,” said Nadal.

The Women’s Singles looks to be a more open tournament, with defending champion Swiatek up there in the favourites group alongside all-time great Serena Williams, as well as former Roland Garros champions Ashleigh Barty (the current world number one), Simona Halep, and Garbine Muguruza.

“Sometimes with my own expectations it’s hard but then I have to remind myself that I just have to focus on work and just remember why I play tennis and have fun on the court because sometimes I feel like I’m not playing for myself and that’s not a good thing,” said Swiatek in her build-up to the tournament.

“I just have to find that space where I just calm myself and remind myself that hopefully in two years I’m just going to be constantly in that mood when I just don’t worry and I’m just having fun because I think that’s what the biggest champions do, they just don’t care and they just play and focus on their job.”
