Good Care Pre-School growing in leaps and bounds

By Byron Mutingwende

The pristine citadel of knowledge located in Norton in the Mashonaland West Province, Good Care Pre-school is continuously growing not only in numbers but as the best centre for infant learning.

The school owes its success to the founder, Mrs Gertrude Mandizvidza, who is a phenomenal businesswoman, philanthropist and generous giver whose works in the community are bringing about positive change.

“First and foremost, I am a mother and my love and hope to see children succeeding is enormous beyond measure. Having grown through a turbulent early childhood, I have vowed never to allow little children go through what I experienced when I was a child.

“Because of that background, I saw it fit to establish an early child learning centre that I named Good Care because every child deserves the care that will form the foundation that will be the springboard for a successful future,” Mrs Mandizvidza said.

It is no longer the same story when one visits the school today and compares with what it was in 2011 when the school started with just four infants. Good Care today is home and school to 80 children largely drawn from Norton, Chegutu, Sandringham and surrounding areas.

The phenomenal enrolment within a short space of time is due to the confidence that the parents have in the school in moulding a whole infant who will be ready to start Grade 1.

“We teach our children all the basics they need to muster before they proceed to Grade 1. One of the comparative advantages we have is that Good Care Pre-school gave birth to David Mascott Country School that is an affluent primary school offering the best learning environment in the area.

“Graduates from Good Care automatically qualify to get a place for Grade 1 at David Mascott School. They no longer need to apply for registration since they will just continue to a better school. That way parent like the convenience offered by the arrangement between Good Care Pre-school and David Mascott Country School,” said Patient Meza, the Good Care School Administrator.

Good Care Pre-school is a full-day infant learning centre where the children are given a four-star diet comprising carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals necessary for a health development of children.

Royal blue, red and English khakhi uniforms also identify them. The school also offers introductory lessons for computers, home economics, agriculture. In sports, Good Care trains cycling, swimming, tennis, basketball and hockey among others. Chess is also an integral activity within the school that prepares infants for future competitions and sharpens their thinking capacity. This is in line with what is offered at David Mascott Country School for continuity sake. Both schools are already enrolling for 2019.
