Life of an Orphan Captured in New Song

By Arts Correspondent

Being an orphan is often accustomed to a harsh upbringing and this is aptly captured in a new single by a Bulawayo based artiste.

The 19-year-old Tamuka Vengesayi who is a reggae artiste told this publication that the song ‘Nherera Munhuwo’ is an encouragement for the society to support orphans especially now at a time the county is grappling with Covid-19 virus.

“The song Nherere Munhuwo is a track to tell off members of the society who tend to look down on orphans as it is not their preference to have that status.

“As the country is fighting the novel virus there is the need for society to also consider the plight of orphans,” explained  Tamuka affectionately known in the music circles as Crixxie Tamuka Di Bway.

The former Muzondo High School student’s debut album ‘Zvairema’  was done last year but he started writing songs in 2013.

“I started writing my own songs  2013 but started recording in  2019 at Street Paddie   Productions where I did my first album titled ‘Zvairema’,” added the artiste who hails from Chivi, Masvingo.

The new offering Nherera Munhuwo was recorded at Tycoon Entertainment music stable in Bulawayo.

He says a video to accompany the song is in the pipeline.

“I know that most music enthusiasts like visuals so I am already working on a video for the track Nherera Munhuwo,” revealed the artiste.

According to Tamuka, being based in Bulawayo has been a hurdle in terms of his music being received as the folk there prefer house music to reggae.

“I can confess that in Bulawayo it is not easy to capture the hearts of many here with my reggae music as most of them are very much into house music,” confessed Tamuka.

If  Crixxie Tamuka Di Bway is to hit the right chords he will join an array of young artistes like Poptain and Nutty O who are now household names in the reggae genre.
