Chinhoyi – Zvimba South Constituency ZANU PF legislator Dr. Philip Chiyangwa, has said he is confident of being victorious in the forthcoming party’s elections which will endorse him as the party supporters’ favourite.

Hon Chiyangwa said the internal elections will strengthen the party’s democracy system and give party supporters to choose from quality tested leaders.

Hon Chiyangwa said he does not want the issue of people being endorsed without going for elections as this does not demonstrate his real strength on the ground

“The issue of being endorsed by all the supporters so that you do not go for elections is not that bad, but it’s only that to me, it does not really give the picture of one’s real strength on the ground. Personally, I prefer to show those who somehow dream that they can defeat me in an election so that they know once and for all where my strength lies, and that’s from the people. That reality can only be revealed by an election,” he said.

“I am going into the election for central committee position against perennial election losers who are in the habit of trying to extort money from me. I want to show them once and for all that people have confidence in me,” he said.

Hon Chiyangwa is expected to easily sail through to a comfortable return to the party’s central committee position as he battles out his arch-rival, Chrispen Saidi, whom he also defeated in the party’s 2018 parliamentarian primary election for Zvimba South Constituency and another 2018 ZANU PF primary losing MP aspirant, Jessica Tapfumaneyi.

Hon Chiyangwa’s main challenger, Chrispen Saidi, has been a perennial loser in the ZANU PF elections. He was a former Zvimba Rural District Council ward 22 councillor – a seat he lost before his numerous attempts on becoming a member of parliament where he has been losing in primary elections.

In Zvimba North Constituency, Hon Marian Chombo is expected to sail through to the central committee, shrugging off challenges from Zvimba District ZANU PF DCC Chairperson Bywell Mbiri and Admire Nyamasvisva

In Zvimba West, Hon Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi locks horns against Joseph Chirongoma. The elections will be held this coming weekend.
