Rooftop Promotions and Dollarbill Entertainment organized musical concert ‘Jazz and Soul Friday Night’ will this week host rising mbira fusion artist Nancy Mutize fondly known as Nasibo.

The concert which happens at Theatre in the Park (TIP) will start at 7 PM until 10 PM and the admission is $5. Tickets are being sold at Theatre in the Park offices in the Harare Gardens. Contact details for the organizers are 0774232478 and 0782217462 for further inquiries.

Confirming this development, Rooftop Promotions programs and communications manager Passmore Ndlovu said that they are proud to be hosting rising artists like Nasibo. He also added that she will be launching her album titled ‘Zaruwe’ on the 29th of April at the same venue.

Nasibo performed in Brussels, Belgium this year in February after another record of successful performances in Rwanda and Tanzania in 2021. In the same year 2021, she was invited to perform at a cultural musical experiment called Maisha Music Experiment in Ethiopia and this was organized by the European Union delegation to the African Union.

She also had another successful performance in South Africa in 2020. As a product of the Music Crossroads, Nasibo was part of the Music Crossroads Divas Band where she was privileged to share the stage with big artists like Habib Koite, Oliver Mtukudzi, Jah Prayzah, and Edith Weutonga at the HAIFA in Harare.

In fact, she has sung and played her mbira instrument on different occasions locally. According to Nasibo, she is a social and cultural activist therefore she is inspired to be singing about issues mostly affecting women and children. Her music pushes more on Ubuntu and other social issues.

Theatre in the Park will next week host FaB Ovation, a local jazz band led by Brennan Wyngard. Nasibo will be returning on the 29th of this month for an album launch. The Jazz and Soul Friday Night is the brainchild of the two organizing institutions Rooftop Promotions and Dollarbill Entertainment birthed in 2020.
