ZIMDABA Investment Conference to open country for business

CAS welcomes a partnership with the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency ahead of the second instalment of the ZIMDABA investment conference, scheduled for April 9th-11th, 2019 in London.

The esteemed Royal Geographical Society (RGS) is the setting for the second ZIMDABA, an investment conference aimed towards culturing investment opportunities between businesses in Zimbabwe and the UK. An initiative of Consolidated Africa Services (CAS), the conference will be launched on April 9 in central London in partnership with the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA).

Leading with the theme, ‘Prosperity Through Work’, the conference will place a key focus on the economic drivers behind the expected inexorable growth of Zimbabwe’s economy, in the coming decade and beyond. An additional emphasis will be placed on the country’s agribusiness sector as one of the sectors of note alongside other sectors namely tourism, energy and mining.

Building on the success of the first edition of the conference in 2018, ZIMDABA II, will showcase an array of informative presentations designed to highlight and explore areas for opportunities and solid investment. Spearheaded by ZIDA, the programme features a series of eight panel discussion forums on a range of topics not limited to: Diaspora Investment & Financial Inclusion and Economic, Socio-Political & Legislative Reforms. Anchored by industry experts, the selected discussion topics will seek to share a broad view of Zimbabwe’s current economic climate.

“ZIDA was setup to unlock value in Zimbabwe and we are driven by His Excellency Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s mantra: ‘Zimbabwe is open for business’. We truly believe we are amplifying it through our ground-breaking partnership with CAS at this year’s ZIMDABA,” said Dr Washington Mbizvo, ZIDA Board Chairman. Dr. Mbizvo continued, “We pride ourselves in the investment bouquets we’ve prepared which potential investors can capitalise on in collaboration with businesses in our country. Zimbabwe is a sleeping giant endowed with an abundance of natural resources and human capital which has been awakened.”

His Excellency Colonel (Retired) Christian Katsande, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom will open the event and attendees may look forward to a key note speech from Honourable Vangelis Haritatos, Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement. Ambassador Stuart Comberbach, the Special Advisor to the Minister, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, will complement the ZIMDABA II conference programme with a special presentation focussing on the Re-Engagement Process and Economic Cooperation whilst being assisted by Mr. Chimombe.

CAS Group Chief Executive Officer Munyaradzi Majoni said, “We are now sufficiently ready to produce the critical mass necessary for driving Zimbabwe towards attaining an upper middle income economy.” Majoniadded, “Courtesy of our partnership with ZIDA, Honourable Mthuli Ncube, Minister of Finance and Economic Development will deliver a presentation on the Macro-Investment Climate in Zimbabwe and how the Government of Zimbabwe is addressing investor concerns. The full conference programme is available on our website.” Individuals and organisations interested in attending the event may access the CAS website and initiate the conference registration process at a nominal fee.
