The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA)’s 10th Anniversary celebrations and Awards Dinner Gala will be held on home soil at the Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls on April 10, 2020 .
The ceremony running under the theme: Our heart has always been home, pays homage to the motherland where the journey started for so many of the country’s success stories.
The event will welcome various members of diaspora based communities whose contributions in their respective fields and endeavours have made a global impact and shone a positive light on the country by virtue of their great ambassadorial role to the rest of the world.
Unlike regular ZAA edition formats, there will be no public voting or nominations for this special celebratory edition and recipients will be awarded the honorary ZAA Global Impact Award as determined by the ZAA Advisory Boards and Panel from various territories and celebrating the achievements of the country’s global trailblazers as well as some unsung heroes both based in Zimbabwe and abroad.
Some of the recipients in line for awards include academic Dr Tererai Trent, entrepreneur Dr Divine Ndhlukula, diplomat HE Arikana Chihomnbori- Quao, community Champion Gogo Esther Minyoro, touring band Mokoomba, music executive Taponeswa Mavunga, sommelier Joseph Dhafana, actress Chipo Tariro Chung, motocross biker Tanya Muzinda, rugby star Tendai Mtawarira and inventor William Sachiti, among others. A more comprehensive list of the recipients will be released in due course, whilst taking caution to not pre-empt the awards ceremony.
ZAA is committed to not only celebrating achievement but also create strong networks and synergies within our various spheres of influence to propel the national aspirations forward and is also actively involved in partnering with other goodwill parties through the ZAA Foundation.
As ZAA we are also keeping a close watch on various factors pertaining to the event and would like to allay fears that the Corona virus cases reported in neighbouring country will affect the hosting of the event. We continue to monitor the situation closely whilst also following Government and World Health Organisation guidelines and proceeding with plans for the event which are now at an advanced stage.
ZAA is an international awards brand that recognises, honours and celebrates outstanding Zimbabwean talent around the globe from various fields such as leadership, business, media, sport, entertainment and proactive community initiatives, among other notable positive contributions.
Since inception in 2010 with the flagship ZAA UK edition, we have grown over the years and expanded to other countries, giving birth to other editions namely, ZAA USA, ZAA Australia, ZAA Canada and ZAA South Africa, which are held annually through an open nomination in relevant categories by people, followed by a shortlist and voting process on the website, culminating in the annual awards dinner gala.
The ZAA 10th Anniversary event is part of ZimThrive’s Homecoming initiative and proudly sponsored by various partners such as Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), FastJet, African Medallion Group (AMG), African Sun, ZimCon and Mhukahuru Tours among others.
