The African Continental Association for Protection (ACAFP) is organising its 2nd Food Safety Conference for Africa under the theme “Towards A Safer Food Supply for Africa”.

The conference is taking place from December 12-14, 2023 at Erata Hotel, East Legon, Accra. This aligns with the sustainable and safe food production and supply initiatives in Africa.

The conference partners are the African Union Commission, the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and EatSafe International.

Food safety is a responsibility for all; therefore, this conference brings together food safety academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, health professionals, industry players, development partners, and students to share and discuss pertinent food safety issues on the continent. Over 120 participants from various countries in Africa, Europe, and North America are participating in the conference.

The three-day conference will comprise three keynote presentations, four plenary presentations, one learning event, one-panel discussion, and 60 technical presentations.

The technical presentations have been structured under five sub-themes namely,  innovative capacity-building approaches to food safety in Africa; integration of food safety with food and nutrition security in Africa; implementing one health approach for food safety in Africa; food safety policies and regulations in Africa; and technological advances in food safety.

The conference sponsors are the African Union – Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), GB Foods, Cargill, and Joy Business.
