Chivi South legislator Killer Zivhu has donated over 300 sanitary pads to pupils and female teachers at Ruvanga Secondary School as part of his philanthropic work.
In an interview with Spiked Online Media, Zivhu said he is inspired by his poor background to keep doing good for the less privileged that include schools.
He said despite spirited efforts from some party functionaries to frustrate his efforts of addressing the plight of the down trodden members of society, he will keep giving out through his foundation, Zivhu Foundation.
He said, he is targetting all teenage girls in schools to benefit from sanitary pads almost every month.
“I am doing this out of love as part of my philanthropic work. In am also an incumbent MP for the area and I feel I should play my party in making sure that the girl child retains her self esteem through adequately preparing for her reproductive health challenges,” said Zivhu.
He said his foundation is also prepared to assist other girls in other provinces apart from Chivi South and will continue doing this as long as he lives.
Zivhu is in the eye of a storm after reporting some Zanu PF members to the police for allegedly taking rice meant for his constituents.
The matter which seems to have created fissures within the Masvingo Zanu PF circulated on social media and invoked some scathing attacks from party stalwarts.
Recently the media also reported that Masvingo executive appealed to the national disciplinary committee (NDC) to expedite and bring Zivhu’s suspension case to finality.
Zivhu is also on suspension following his suggestions that President Emmerson Mnangagwa should engage in a dialogue with MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa.
He is said to have made these pleas through Twitter and Facebook, an allegation he has since denied.
The Politburo is expected to deliberate on Masvingo’s grievances over Zivhu today and hopes tonight the matter will be put to rest.
Coincidentally, the NDC has four members from Masvingo, who some critics say are opposed to Zivhu’s persecution.
