A South Africa-based Zimbabwean teacher and musician, Trust Moyo (47) – aka The Teacher – is making noticeable strides in the development of the music industry in the neighbouring southern state.

The revelation was made by media platforms that highlight the achievements of Delta Park School – the school at which Moyo is a music teacher.

Moyo migrated to South Africa in 2008, soon after completing his diploma in education at Gwanda’s Joshua Mqabuko Polytechnic in 2007. He is part of the 94 staff compliment at Delta Park – a public remedial school in Randburg.

Established in 1992, to cater to the learning needs of children with learning challenges, Delta Park School enrolls children from Grade R (the equivalent of ECD in Zimbabwe) to Grade 12.

According to Dr. Hannetjie Britz   – the school’s principal  – the institution’s achievements and increasing popularity are a result of the commitment and dedication of the staff.

“It is truly an honour, a blessing, and a privilege to be part of a staff of 94 members whose passion and dedication to the 570 pupils at Delta Park School is clearly evident,” she is reported to have pointed out in a speech.

Trust embarked on his musical journey with the group Wishing Happiness in 2003, through the release of a 6-track gospel album titled Tidzidzisei Kunamata. Before his departure for South Africa, he studied music at Midlands Music Academy and Academy of Music in Bulawayo.

Committed to the development of the music industry through talent identification, nurturing, and mentoring, Trust proceeded to study for a diploma in music at the University of South Africa (Unisa). He also attained a bachelor’s degree in education from the same institution.

Over the years Trust has mentored a number of young musicians, including his daughter: Daphyne Tee Moyo (16) and Charline Tee Moyo (14), seasoned gospel artistes – Thili Maumela and Jay Mbiza.

Trust is grateful for the mentorship he received from Clive Mono Mukundu and Gilbert Mzeni Mabasa.

“God is my inspiration and has provided great people to mentor me in the likes of Clive Mono Mukundu and Gilbert Mzenzi Mabasa, the principal of Bulawayo Polytechnic,” he said during a recent interview.

He is currently working on his debut forthcoming contemporary album, titled Hymnal Worship, due to be released early next year.
