Prominent Afro-Chimurenga songstress Jane Stoevring Marimo has released her seventh album titled Simba Mukaka.
Her latest 8-track offering which is accompanied by a video comprises tracks Nyika yakapfuma, Usaite dera, Nhamo yemumwe hairambirwe sadza, Moyo wekubereka, Kusiyana kwemabasa, Kutanda botso rekuda, Chiumbwa, and Simba Mukaka (title track).
The album was produced and engineered by Takesure Chari at Marimo’s Simba Studios in Westgate, Harare.
In a telephone interview with this publication, the Simba band leader said “My latest project Simba Mukaka, which was recorded at our studios, is dedicated to my loyal fans across the country and in Europe.
“The title track encourages people to work hard in order to achieve their desired goals. Determination and resilience is the theme of the song as it inspires people to remain focused on their set objectives. The song features talented musician Felex Mutasa who added a rich flavour to make it tantalising to the ear.”
“It is my hope that music lovers will enjoy our latest project. We have also concurrently released the video for the album to enhance its appeal on the market,” the Saina hit-maker added.
Marimo — an accomplished entrepreneur and businesswoman of repute, now has several albums under her belt including Shungu Dzangu (2013), Daka Regore (2014), Chikonzero (2016), Makasa (2017), and Simba Mukaka (2021) as well as a singles Kumusha NeChristmas (2015), Cradle Zimbabwe (2019).
Some of her popular songs are Chidimbu Chemoyo, Hwahwa, Rasta, Africa, Saina, Makasa, and Chikonzero.
Her ensemble, the Simba Band consists Takesure Chari (lead guitar), Learnmore Gandani (bassist), Brien Tagarira (rhythm), George Chiremba (mbira), Wellington Machaya (drummer), and several dancers.
