Lewis Mangaba, a private tour guide based in Victoria Falls offers a superb and memorable experience to visitors in the resort town including media practitioners from the region who are in the majestic town on a trip sponsored by Boundless Southern Africa in support of the #20For20 SME Initiative under the Zimbabwe Destination Development Program run by Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry.
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport yesterday, media practitioners were met by Private Guide Lewis Mangaba from Wild Spoor Safaris who immediately transferred some of them to Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge where they spent their first night in Victoria Falls.
Lewis Mangaba is a highly respected, professional guide and guide trainer with unwavering passion and genuine enthusiasm for African people, wildlife, and conservation.
Lewis was born in the Mola area of Omay, bordering the Matusadona National Park in Zimbabwe. As a young boy herding cattle and goats, it was his duty to protect livestock from lions and hyenas. Learning tracks and interpreting the bush was part of growing up in this remote corner of Africa, and allowed for him to form a deep connection with and passion for both the wildlife and wild habitats.
Previously nominated as one of top three finalists in the 2014 Wanderlust Guide Awards, in 2016 the United Kingdom’s Wanderlust Magazine readers voted him as “World Guide of the Year”, and in 2017 Lewis was awarded the “Unsung Hero PURE Award” which recognizes the dedication and passion of guides who go an extra mile to offer truly transformational experiences to guests.
For more than 25 years Lewis has been guiding visitors to some of the wildest places on the continent. His love for Africa and its wild spaces is contagious and his humble nature is only outweighed by his depth of knowledge and vast experience. In addition, Lewis continues to nurture and mentor the upcoming generations of Professional Guides conducting guides training across Zimbabwe and East Africa.
Mangaba recommends visitors to stay at Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge in Victoria Falls that was recently awarded “Best Family Guest House 2021” in the Global Tourism Awards.
Dzimbahwe Guest Lodge is owner-run and offers a comfortable, personalised, and “home away from home” experience for discerning travellers visiting Victoria Falls looking for intimate, private, clean, and reasonably priced accommodation. The owner-run and personalized service enhances the overall atmosphere of Dzimbahwe, and the carefully nurtured gardens and swimming pool area provide a tranquil space in which guests can relax and unwind. Located in the peaceful area of Victoria Falls closer to the game corridor and 3km to the mighty Victoria Falls, they offer self-catering and bed and breakfast options.
Among other local places under the small-to-medium enterprises, Mangaba also highly endorsed the Zambezi Boutique – a new exclusive guesthouse recently opened in June 2021 that adds to the growing diversity of accommodation options available in Victoria Falls.
Surrounded by lush teak trees in a quiet newly developed area of town, Zambezi Boutique is a small, private, and exclusive guesthouse incorporating the welcoming ethos and essence of Victoria Falls into its overall guest experience.
Focused on offering an intimate and exclusive experience of the tourism hub, the guesthouse will be incorporating unique value-add activities on-site which support local specialists and small businesses within Victoria Falls. With 4 luxury suites, 1 deluxe suite, and 2 double-story superior suites, Zambezi Boutique caters to smaller groups and families looking for a peaceful and intimate setting whilst enjoying the close proximity to Victoria Falls and its diverse array of activities.
“Zambezi Boutique includes a rooftop bar with expansive views looking out across to the Zambezi River and the spray of the majestic Victoria Falls in the distance. Expect top-class service and hospitality with culinary delights from the in-house “live cooking” concept for dining, where meals are prepared in front of guests, and the private chef on-site creates some tantalising sundowner snacks to enjoy whilst enjoying sundowners from the roof-top bar,” Mangaba said.
Again, top on the priority list for visitors who prefer smaller places is Phezulu Guest Lodge in Victoria Falls. Situated in a quiet residential area, Phezulu Guest Lodge is approximately 3.5km from Victoria Falls. All 21 rooms are tastefully decorated with local artwork with bathrooms en-suite. The lodge oozes vibes of playful sophistication, which combined with the great staff makes it hard to leave disappointed. Their rates are inclusive of a Continental and full English breakfast as well as complimentary WiFi. Lunches and dinners can be provided on request.
The waterfall itself is the heart and soul of the KAZA Transfrontier Conservation Area region and the vital aspect that ultimately brings visitors from far and wide to Victoria Falls – the majestic Zambezi River and the biodiversity it serves, as well as the world’s largest curtain of falling water and seventh world wonder – ‘Mosi Oa Tunya’ – The Smoke That Thunders.
The natural environment and the wildlife that inhabit it, is what makes this region so sought after for visitors both near and far, and continues to allow for the diversity of activities that Victoria Falls has become known for on a global scale.
On the other hand, Signature Africa is a leading ground handler in Zimbabwe offering luxury transfers and guided tours. It caters primarily to those looking for high-quality, intimate, and engaging guided experiences. It is designed to offer safety, comfort, and an exceptional experience with both guest interactions and service delivery. Signature Africa is the epitome of personalised service throughout.
