The aspiring Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate for Epworth, Ethrage Kureva has vowed to retain the constituency to improve the livelihood of the residents, especially the youths.

Epworth is one of Harare’s 12 constituencies that fell vacant after the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC-T party recalled Nelson Chamisa loyalists across the country.

In an interview with this publication, Kureva accused Zanu (PF) of machinations towards rigging the forthcoming by-elections.

“We are 100% sure that we are going to retain the seat where it belongs. We are aware Zanu Pf wants to rig the election on the polling day but we are ahead of them,” Kureva said.

The aspiring MP remains confident that he is going to retain the seat of Epworth despite the fact that the electorate is not aware that he was recalled two years ago.

“The only thing that I was noticed during our door-to-door campaigns was that most of the electorate was not even aware that I was recalled 2 years ago, so the information needs to reach the electorate before March 26. So far, about 70 % of Epworth residents know about the Citizen Coalition for Change and by the time we vote information would have reached everyone,” added Kureva.

The aspiring legislator vowed to eradicate idleness among the youths. He promised to bring sanity in Epworth.

“Zanu (PF) is fooling the people of Epworth by promising them title deeds. This is a way of vote-buying. We are aware that Zanu (PF) is faking popularity in Epworth because those people who attended the rally were bussed from outside Epworth.”

Meanwhile, one of the strong Zanu PF supporters dismissed Kureva claims and described him as a coward who knows his defeat is predictable.

“How can Zanu (PF) waste its money to ferry supporters from somewhere? To prove what?. Kureva is scared of elections because his downfall is imminent. He senses it. He is in panic mode,” said Lister Mhandu.
