The Zimbabwe Table Tennis team have confirmed that they are now prepared for the Region 5 games to be held in Botswana from 25- 29 January 2018.
Noah Ferenando, The National Director for Zimbabwe Table Tennis has confirmed that their players are getting enough preparations in terms of training from different points a cross the country.
“In terms of preparations we have rolled out a programme for our selected team that was named yesterday. They started training last month in our various training centres dotted around the country.
“For physical fitness we played an International friendly with the Chinese that actually pushed our players quite hard and acted as a pivotal pre-event preparation and medium selection of our players for the Region 5 games. As for the sponsorship we are running around to secure more funds for the games but we are confident that everything will fall into the right place, ” Ferenando said.
The Men’s team which will travel to Botswana will consist of 5 nationally ranked players namely Vikram Singh (40 points),Brain Chamboko (30 points), Takunda Mudzingama (7 points), Tinashe Duri( 6,5 points), Mlungisi Moyo (6 points) and Gopito Raphael who is the coach’s reserve player.
The Women’s team will consist of top 5 nationally ranked players namely Isheunesu Siringanwani (23points), Vongai Zhuwakim (21points), Ashley Dhlamini (17points), Cindy Chinomona (15points), Ncube Princess (5points) and Vimbai Makuvaza who is the coach’s reserve player.
Hopes are raised that these teams will raise the Zimbabwean flag high as they engage on the special regional assignment.
