Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu wins prestigious PATWA award

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Environment, Tourism, and Hospitality Industry Hon Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndhlovu has won the best African Minister of the Year at ITB Berlin 2023 recognized by the Pacific Writers of Travel Association (PATWA).

The PATWA International Travel Awards are handed out once a year in March at ITB Berlin, the world’s biggest travel and trade fair.

The PATWA International Travel Awards have earned a reputation as one of the most coveted and sought-after awards of the travel trade and are now in their 18th year since they were incepted in 1999.

These awards recognise individuals and organisations that have excelled and/or are involved in the promotion of tourism from different sectors of the travel trade such as aviation, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, destinations, government bodies, tourism ministries, and other service providers related directly or indirectly to the industry.

To put the icing on the cake, Zimbabwe has been nominated for the Destination of the Year award for Natural Beauty. The Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Ms. Winnie Muchanyuka has been nominated for the “BEST PROFESSIONAL – DESTINATION MANAGEMENT” award category.

The Awards were in Berlin and the ZTA Chief Executive, Ms. Winnie Muchanyuka was part of the speakers. She talked about the Destination Zimbabwe sustainable tourism story.
