Chief Fortune Charumbira, the President of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), is among the dignitaries in Kigali, Rwanda for the Retreat on the African Union (AU) Reforms and the Agenda 2063.
As he arrived ahead of schedule for the meeting slated for 8 to 11 June 2023 to give him enough time to prepare for the meeting and engage other key stakeholders, Hon. Senator Chief Fortune Charumbira arrived in Kigali on Tuesday and was received at the airport by Professor Charity Manyeruke, the Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Rwanda.
The Retreat will focus on the mandates of various African Union bodies, including judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, PAP, AUABC, AUCIL, Permanent Representational Offices, Liaison Offices, and Specialized Technical Agencies. It will also include presentations on different structures and the implementation plans for Agenda 2063.
President Charumbira’s arrival in Kigali is significant as it demonstrates the commitment of the Pan-African Parliament to the African Union’s goal of promoting peace, security, and development on the continent. As the President of the Pan-African Parliament, President Charumbira plays a key role in promoting the interests of African nations and ensuring that the voices of the African people are heard at the continental level.
