Two senior officials of the Destiny of Africa Network founded by Reverend Obadiah Musindo are under probe for alleged corruption under the organisation’s housing scheme in Mutare.

In an interview with Spiked Online Media in Harare today, Reverend Musindo said the duo of Wilson Masokovere, the Projects Manager; and Temba Sauramba, the Treasurer; is running a smear campaign against him after sensing that the long arm of the law will imminently catch up with them for their shady deals.

Rev Musindo was in Mutare to meet up with the pastors from Manicaland for the economic empowerment of the pastors.
“And this is not my first time. I’ve empowered so many pastors across Zimbabwe. I’ve enabled so many pastors to get stands. I’ve assisted so many pastors to get houses. I’ve assisted so many pastors in acquiring stands for their churches. I’ve done a lot for many pastors in this country. In Mutare, we are not going for the housing project, but we are going for the economic empowerment of pastors. This is part of Destiny of Africa Network’s leadership capacity-building initiatives.
“We want to talk to the pastors on best strategies to do evangelism and church growth. We want the pastors to have cars. Each pastor must have a car. I’ve given cars to the pastors before. Real, bona fide pastors know that I have assisted many of them in getting their own furniture. We want to assist churches to build their churches in line with Vision 2030. I am capacitated t0 the extent that I can’t steal from struggling pastors. Instead, I must assist them,” Rev Musindo said.
He emphasised that he could not go to Mutare to take money from poor pastors.
“Most of these people, most of these pastors are sacrificing their pastoring churches that have no money. If there is anything, I’ll be giving loans to the pastors. And then to some churches, I’ll be making donations. The bona fide pastors, real pastors, they know me. As I’m speaking, Masokovere and Sauramba are under investigation by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
“They transferred money into their personal accounts. Masokovere acquired or amassed wealth overnight. Last time we sent internal auditors to
to do what we call a verification exercise to check how much they were paid. He hired the thugs to beat up the auditors and some of them were hospitalized, including Pastor Shelton Chibanda and Bishop Dhliwayo.
“The fact is that Masokovere stole money. He’s corrupt. He now owns trucks and over 20 houses in the northern suburbs of Harare. He acquired some properties and developed a shopping mall in Chiredzi. If he is clean, why is he refusing to do the audits? He is sponsoring dubious journalists to tarnish my image. These are his personal hired people who are supposed to tarnish the image of what I’m doing. We just stopped going to the Mutare office because Masokovere bribed journalists and other people in the government and the security,” Rev Musindo added.
Rev Musindo added that no matter who he bribed or paid, Masokomere would be going to jail after the ZACC investigation.
“And let him not blame me for what he’s doing. I don’t run offices. They are run by different people in different offices. That’s my principle. for the Mutare meeting to happen, many pastors called for me to assist them. Masokomere will move out of our Mutare office office straight into the prison.”
Masokovere and Sauramba were not immediately available on their phones to respond to allegations being levelled against them.
