After a successful meeting attended by 267 pastors from different churches in Manicaland Province, Reverend Obadiah Musindo, the founder of Destiny of Afrika Network (DANet), has sent a chilling warning to the network’s Projects Manager, Wilson Masokovere against publishing falsehoods meant to tarnish his image and ordered him to return money he stole in a botched housing scheme.
Below, Spiked Online Media reproduces verbatim, Reverend Musindo’s clarification of the matter at hand:
Bona fide, powerful pastors from different churches attended our meeting in Mutare because they know me as somebody with a passion for empowering pastors. I am somebody who has already assisted other pastors, even a testimony given by a pastor I blessed with a car and some pastors who benefited big time from me.
I even promised pastors that I would start another program where we would clothe men and women of God. We buy them good suits, proper sizes, and shoes, and we are going to give 300 suits to pastors and their wives in Manicaland. We will give male pastors a shirt and a tie and something that can match the suit of the husband to their wives and everything right from the shoes up to the top.
That was one of our promises and we did not go to Mutare to meet with the pastors for a housing project as it is being alleged by my detractors who panicked because of the successful meeting and that they feared to be exposed.
The question that must be asked is why is it that Wilson Masokovere, who doesn’t care about the lives of these pastors, has suddenly developed an interest in which pastors come to attend our meetings and so forth.
Destin of Africa Network helped pastors in many ways. Masokovere, under Phase 2 and 3 management, of which I appointed him, took the money from the pastors.
He is the one who does the receipts, and management of the DANet day-to-day activities in Manicaland. Since we launched Phases 2 and 3, I surrendered the day-to-day running of the office to Wilson Masokovere.
Now, if he claims that I took money from other pastors and other members, he is lying. How did I do that? Even the pastors can testify that I don’t run anything. Yes, the treasurer is responsible for the keeping of the books. Now, we never appealed for money to promote our new offices, because the offices are already there.
That was not the purpose of the meeting in Mutare as they are alleging that the gathering was meant to promote new offices for everyone. No, that was not the purpose. We have much bigger plans. Even in Harare, we are meeting with the pastors. Masokovere is so stupid, together with the writer of the story they are circulating.
I’m meeting with the pastors in different towns, where we don’t have disputes. So how can this noble idea be tarnished, that the purpose of the meeting was to promote the office? How about other areas in the Provinces where we are operating?
Then he said, after losing a high court. Can he prove it, can he give the journalist the high court case number? When you talk about these things, you put the case number. Let them put the case number, because this is a pure fabrication.
Number three, I also need to categorically deny the spirited efforts by Wilson Masokovere that I, Reverend Musindo, met with one officer
of the anti-corruption, I’ve never met with them. The good news about this allegation is that the Rainbow Towers Hotel has cameras everywhere so we can ask the police and other relevant authorities to investigate the alleged emitting.
Okay, if I met with the person here, let the person sit here. In any case, I’m the complainant, I’m allowed to meet with investigators. But in this case, I did not meet with any official from the Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission (ZACC).
Gerald Mabika, who is one of the trustees, who is also the secretary of the trust, is the one who lodged a complaint in Mutare. The spirited attack by Masokoverere is to scare away the investigators. He’s trying to intimidate the investigators.
In the story by Afro Dimensions, they alleged that there are people who complained that they lost their money to me. There’s nothing like that. Can I tell you something? I can give you the numbers of all the pastors who were there. And you call them one by one and let them speak and tell you what they saw.
Two things caused Masokovere to panic. One, the pastors now know the truth. Number two, they are trying to stop ZACC from carrying out its work. Many people have placed their hopes in the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission as the national watchdog.
If Masokovere is clean, let him face the anti-corruption commission rather than attacking them to tarnish their image. Let him answer the questions that they ask them.
If you are innocent, there is no need for you to be afraid of facing the anti-corruption. Can I tell you something? Masokovere is afraid of being arrested for the crimes he committed.
Let him tell the people, the members, what happened to the money that they paid. What happened to the monies that were paid by the members to be remitted to the State Land Department? The intrinsic land value must be paid. There is evidence, very soon, I’ll be calling the journalists to show them the evidence. Bank evidence of the monies that were directly transferred by DANet to Masokovere’s account.
Okay?
Then if Masokovere is pure, is clear, why is he refusing to do the audit? We can look for an independent auditor. Why is he refusing? Not only this.
Masokobere is lying. He lied in his attempt to stop the Mutare meeting. He attempted several times. He tried every trick to stop the meeting by tarnishing my image, by saying this.
Then when the pastors attended, now he’s coming up with other lies. Let Masokovere face the music. But I want to warn the journalists who are being used that they must learn to be credible. They must learn to be truthful. Let them be prepared for my legal action.
