In a demonstration that there is no turning back in empowering veterans of the liberation war that ushered Zimbabwe’s independence, Harare Central Province was a beneficiary of the Presidential War Veterans Fund yesterday.
Dr. Paul Tungwarara who is running the initiative on behalf of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, said the beneficiaries of the Presidential War Veterans Fund must use it to start income-generating projects.
He said that the good thing is that there is no interest charged on the repayments.
“There is no collateral or deposit required for one to be a beneficiary. I commend President Mnangagwa for coming up with this initiative to support those who dedicated their lives to freeing Zimbabwe from the shackles of colonialism. In addition to the Presidential War Veteran Fund, we have the Presidential Housing and Borehole Schemes.
“All war veterans are going to receive solar-powered boreholes across all provinces of the country. This will give them access to clean water and provide them with an opportunity to irrigate their crops in times of drought,” Dr. Tungwarara said.
