Green Light International Trust is set to celebrate a major milestone in the healthcare sector with its 12th Nurse Aid Graduation Ceremony, scheduled for Saturday at Batanai Gardens in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD). The event will mark the culmination of months of rigorous training, dedication, and hard work by the graduating nurse aid trainees.
This ceremony underscores the organization’s mission to empower individuals with essential healthcare skills that will enable them to make a meaningful impact in their communities, particularly in areas with limited access to medical care.
The graduating nurse aids have undergone intensive training to provide quality care to patients. The program was designed to bridge gaps in community healthcare by equipping individuals with practical, life-saving skills. By doing so, Green Light International Trust aims to improve the overall well-being of underserved communities.
Running under the theme “Empowering Mankind Through Basic Health Care, Education for Living,” the event reflects the organization’s commitment to promoting holistic well-being and fostering a culture of care and compassion.
Speaking about the program, Founder and Director, Mr. Tawanda Makwiramiti, explained that the initiative to train nurse aids began in 2017, following the organization’s donation program in Chikomba District.
“We launched the nurse aid training program after donating 29 wheelchairs in Chikomba. Among the beneficiaries, seven were crawling—something truly heartbreaking. We realized the urgent need to train people who could identify community healthcare needs and refer patients to professionals, especially children with severe disabilities. Over the years, we’ve seen the gap slowly closing,” he said.
Mr. Makwiramiti added: “Our main goal is to empower these trainees to serve their communities effectively. On Saturday, we will celebrate their growth and capacity development during our 12th graduation ceremony. As we honour their achievements, we reaffirm our commitment to bridging the healthcare gap and improving lives through education, training, and service delivery.”
The Guest of Honour for the ceremony will be Sinikiwe Kademaunga.
The 12th Nurse Aid Graduation Ceremony is not just a celebration of individual achievement but also a testament to Green Light International Trust’s unwavering dedication to healthcare training and community development. The graduates’ success serves as a beacon of hope for communities in need of quality medical care and compassionate service.
Founded in 2005 by Mr. Tawanda Makwiramiti, Green Light International Trust is a non-profit capacity development organization dedicated to helping underprivileged members of society, particularly people with disabilities. For the past 20 years, the organization has focused on transforming lives through training, education, and sustainable social care support.
Saturday’s ceremony will be another milestone in its mission to empower people with the skills and certifications needed to promote community health and well-being.
