Following the earlier announcement of its US$7 million investment into local manufacturing, Nestlé Zimbabwe is reaffirming its commitment to Zimbabwean families by showcasing the growing impact of its flagship breakfast cereal, CEREVITA.
Rooted in Nestlé’s purpose, to unlock the power of food to enhance the quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come, the investment is already making a tangible difference by boosting the availability of CEREVITA across the country and strengthening Zimbabwe’s role as a regional cereal hub.
CEREVITA holds a unique place on Zimbabwean breakfast tables, loved for its signature toasted flavour and aroma that comes from gently toasting wholegrain cereals before breaking them down into delicious and nutritious flakes.
“Made using whole grains that retain the bran, germ, and endosperm, it is naturally rich in fibre, essential fats, antioxidants, magnesium, and carbohydrates, making it ideal for nourishing the whole family,” says Managing Director for its East Africa and Greater Zambezi operations, Khaled Ramadan.
The cereal is fortified with GRAINSMART™️, a smart combination of iron, vitamins, and minerals that contribute to the normal release of energy in the body. This makes CEREVITA not just a convenient breakfast choice but a smart one that contributes to the vitality of children and adults alike, providing a delicious and nutritious start to the day.
In Zimbabwe, CEREVITA is available in five variants; corn and wheat, corn and banana, corn, cocoa and malt, Flakes with milk, and corn and sorghum. These variants come in two pack size options: the 500g sachet and the 750g bag-in-box.
“This investment is not just about production infrastructure — it’s about long-term nourishment, empowerment, and pride in a product that reflects our local taste, our local grain, and our local spirit,” said Nicole Roos, Managing Director and Chairperson of Nestlé East and Southern Africa Region.
With the all-new Roller Drier 4 now operational, production capacity has already increased by over 35%, improving product availability while maintaining the high standards of safety, quality, and consistency that consumers expect from Nestlé.
Through its Virtuous Circle model, the investment also strengthens local sourcing and inclusion. Nestlé continues to partner with over 350 Zimbabwean suppliers and 18 local farmers while supporting 149 full-time employees, 268 casual workers, and training eight graduate trainees annually.
The investment further contributes to Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, with a firm focus on sustainable manufacturing, including energy efficiency, water savings, and waste reduction. These innovations advance both community well-being and environmental stewardship.
With CEREVITA now reaching beyond borders into markets such as Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique, Nestlé Zimbabwe is proudly positioning the country as a regional breakfast cereal leader.
For over 60 years, Nestlé has nourished Zimbabwean families — and through sustained investment in products like CEREVITA, the company remains committed to doing so for generations to come.
