Harare: A 34-year-old single mother is in dire need of assistance to enable her to improve the life of her daughter who has down syndrome and cerebral palsy. The woman’s child is 15 years old.
A resident of Epworth, Angeline Mukodzeri says she was once married but was later abandoned by her spouse because of her child’s condition.
“I was with my ex-husband throughout the pregnancy and when Brenda was born. However. when he realized the child’s condition he opted out. For the first couple of months, after he had left, my in-laws supported me and my child. l was also able to support the two of us (my child and l) through piece jobs.
“For almost 11 years l have been taking care of Brenda alone. l can not go to work because the money that people ask for as caregivers is beyond my reach,” lamented Angeline during a recent interview.
Brenda Mazinyani needs a new wheelchair to replace the old one which she has outgrown. Food and basic necessities are hard to come by for the financially-ensnared mother and daughter.
Angeline plans to operate a small business from home if people come to her aid.
