Harare – Various established and upcoming entrepreneurs have received business management skills and opportunities for markets from the Affirmative Action Group (AAG).
One of the recipients of the management skills training, Nyasha Mhonda, who undertook an intensive goat rearing business management training, hailed the initiative.
“I am thankful for a great initiative that will allow us to grow our businesses as we now have the requisite knowledge that allows us to effectively carry out our operations. It is one thing to start and run a business and it’s another thing to know how you can effectively run a business, a situation which has resulted in the folding down of many potential businesses,” she said after completing the course.
Bill Jarawani who undertook training in Principles of Business Communication, Business Law, and Business Administration said many people lack the skills and knowledge to sustain their businesses or attract financing.
“The training will go a long way in allowing serious entrepreneurs to grow their businesses as there is no business that can thrive if you don’t know how to manage it. It is impossible to attract funding or markets if you don’t have the ability to communicate in business language and we are really thankful to AAG and so much indebted to its Founder, Dr. Chiyangwa.”
Founder of Affirmative Action Group, Dr. Philip Chiyangwa said knowledge is the value that unlocks opportunity in the business market.
“For anyone to make it in a field of life, one has to have the knowledge and clear understanding of the area one intends to be great on. That’s why you see those who got opportunities in starting businesses sometimes remain stagnant or broke because they lack a simple virtue of knowledge,” Dr. Chiyangwa said.
“Being economically empowered is not just about making noise or claiming to be going somewhere when you don’t have knowledge on where you are coming from or where you are going. That’s why my business has stood the test of time. I want to ensure lots of Zimbabweans are really empowered economically just like what our President is striving to achieve and remember real economic empowerment is not achieved by talk shows but disciplined hard work. AAG has proved over the years to cherish those virtues and we have many successful business people who have made it in life across Africa who embraced the AAG philosophy,” he said.
Trainees received certificates and business financing opportunities where they will receive funding for their projects.
