Addressing corruption: Minister Chombo signs integrity pledge

Chinhoyi – Mashonaland West Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Marian Chombo has said a holistic approach towards the fight against corruption is needed in all sectors to ensure the economic development of the province and country towards the attainment of an upper middle-income society. The Minister said this when she led officials from her office in the signing of integrity pledges facilitated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC).
Speaking to the media after signing the integrity pledge, Hon Chombo said as the highest government official in the province, she has to commit herself to lead by example and urged all her staff to work diligently in serving the people of Mashonaland West Province in a way that ensures that no person or place is left behind.
“As a servant leader encouraged by our President, HE   Mnangagwa, I have to commit myself to ensure that my office serves the people in the province. We must fulfill the people’s aspirations and needs, guarding against discrimination and ensuring that corrupt tendencies at any level are eradicated to accelerate economic development that is characterized by an upper middle-income society by 2030,” she said.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission Deputy Chairperson, Mr Kuziwa Murapa, said the signing of the integrity pledges is a testimony of one’s commitment to fighting graft.
“Eradication of corruption will easily assist both private and public sectors achieve national development strategies goals towards the attainment of Vision 2030. Through these pledges, one is showing her or his willingness to join in the corruption fight. I urge everyone – whether you in the public or private sector, to join hands as we ensure that we are in a corrupt-free society, which is possible if we all commit ourselves to the cause.” he said
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission says they are seized with various cases of corruption and are working tirelessly to ensure that corrupt activities are lowered in the country.
