Kadoma-based upcoming hip hop artiste Flyts (29) – real name Kudakwashe Dodzo – says all is set for the release of his debut precursor track: Mels. A tribute to lost love, Mels is scheduled to be officially released on social media platforms on the 1st of August. The launch of the song comes ahead of the release of Flyts’ forthcoming album titled 12WELVE.

Flyts had this to say about Mels: “The name of the song is ‘Mels’. I was inspired by the moments I shared with someone I would like to call the apple of my eye. It was my first time knowing someone for almost five solid years. I’ve never met someone like her since we broke up, as well as before we met. Letting her go didn’t feel right, but it was the best decision. We still communicate, but not at regular intervals.”

A graduate of Peter Birch Private Art College (diploma in fine art) and Harare Polytechnic (diploma in design for print), Flyts embarked on his professional music career in 2013. His main source of inspiration is his elder brother Tafadzwa Takunda Dodzo aka 1no.

A hip-hop musician in his own right, 1no has assisted a number of young Kadoma upcoming musicians to gain recognition by giving them much-needed support.

“My brother, Tafadzwa Takunda Dodzo (also known as 1no) is my inspiration because he gave me the key to express myself through music,” the young musician elaborated.
