The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) is mourning its beloved and longtime member, Patrick Kenny, Ed.D., ACRN, NE-BC, APRN-PMH, who died suddenly Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his home. He was 65 years old.
Patrick was a longtime member of the Philadelphia Chapter of ANAC and served the organisation as a leader in so many ways. Most recently, Patrick served as the president of the HANCB board of ANAC. He served on the national ANAC board of directors as secretary, presided as the parliamentarian at many of the ANAC business meetings and was a welcoming presence at many ANAC national conferences. He also served as president of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association. Patrick was a champion of ANAC and nurses in so many ways.
Patrick was born in Biddeford, ME and has been a resident of Newtown, PA for 20 years. He received his BSN from DeSalles University of Allentown, PA, his MSN from University of Pennsylvania and his Ed.D from Teachers College, Columbia University. He has had a long and distinguished career in nursing education and served as a mentor and role model to countless nursing students. Patrick was passionate about mentoring his students to become excellent nurses and advocates. He also devoted time to hospice work at St. Mary Medical Center/Chandler Hall, bringing peace and comfort to hospice patients and their families.
“He will be deeply missed by his ANAC family and colleagues. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Wednesday, January 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, January 10 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Campbell and Thomas Funeral Home, 905 Second St. Pike, Richboro, PA 18954. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. with his interment following in Whitmarsh Memorial Park,” ANAC said in a statement.
