Introduction
Most people are just passing through life without doing the needful. Life is to be enjoyed and not endured. Those that you see enjoying life would have taken a deliberate decision to be always on top of their game. You will also find that deciding alone will keep you at that same position and place without any movement. Once you decide, follow through with action. So, transformational impact only happens to those who would have discovered where they stand in life. This makes the Discovering Your Self, pack of the Six Pack more relevant and appropriate. You need to ask yourself crucial questions in the process such as,
- What’s my purpose on earth?
- Why am I here?
- What is it that I did or did not do to be where I am today
- What must I do now to become the person I should be?
These are critical questions that call for honest answers for they form the basis of any forward progress and movement.
What is my purpose on the planet earth?
To be impactful in all you do, you need to understand your purpose in life. Have an appreciation of your real north. What is it that you want to be known for? If people are to talk about you, what is it that you want them to say?
I am on the planet earth to engage, inspire and transform generations in the areas of entrepreneurship and personal development. I have identified my real north. Once you identify that which makes you tick, it will be easy to wipe everything else into line. You can now plan and strategize around the things that you really enjoy doing.
Why am I here?
All of us are now somewhere on this life journey. Are we comfortable with what we have become or where we have put ourselves? A number of people are living miserable life. A life robbed of meaning and flavour.
At times we must admit that we are indeed in the wilderness and there is a better place somewhere where I could possibly be. Once you come to that realisation, that’s the only time you can start working your way out of where you find yourself.
Asking yourself the question, ‘Why am I here’ activates your mind into analysing and synthesising issues. It’s only when you know where you are that you can effectively map the way forward. If you don’t know where you are, it is very difficult even for others to help you out of that place.
We can only be directed out of or into a place when we know our current position. We all have an appreciation of the Global Positioning System, the GPS on almost all the smartphones. The one we us to get directions of where we want to go, the MAPS on our android phones. For it to effectively point you where you want to go, it starts by identifying where you stand. That’s how crucial the process of discovering oneself is in life.
What is it that I did or did not do to be where I am today?
We are who we are because of the decision and actions that we did or did not do. In as much as we might want to blame our background, situations, and circumstances, at the end of the day, life is all ours. We have the power to construct a life that suits our expectations. On this one, please stop the blame game. You are where you are because of the choices that you consciously or unconsciously made.
This life is all yours. Take charge and manage every step that you take. Never put it on autopilot for you will regret it tomorrow. Decide on who you want to become an action towards becoming that.
I took an analysis of my life and found out that I could be better than what I was then had I taken the options that I didn’t thought if them. There is always room for rediscovering oneself. I recollected myself and began to work on self first before I started impacting generations.
What must I do now to become the person I should be?
Once you have been awakened to the reality that you are far from where you should be, you have to waste no time, recollect and dust yourself up and move forward in a more precise direction. Come up with your coordinates. Where do you stand in relation to where you are supposed to be. Identify that gap and make a deliberate and strategic plan to fill in the gap.
If you need to acquire certain skills required in your newly founded self, do it. The best advice is, to register some movement away from where you find yourself at. You might have done good and commendable things in that person but if that doesn’t align well with your purpose, you have to move on.
Don’t be so much attached to your past for that hinders progress. There is no future in the past save for the lessons that you can learn. This is why even on our vehicles we have a bigger windscreen and some small view mirrors. This means where we are going matters more than where we are coming from. You cannot effectively drive forward by spending forever on your rearview mirrors.
For individuals, a personal life development plan will be ideal as a starting point after having identified your purpose. In organisations, that’s where we talk of our strategic planning.
Conclusion.
You cannot effectively succeed in life without having successfully discover yourself. This is a deliberate process that one chooses to take if they really want to be transformational and impactful in their life.
