Bikita District has demonstrated the lived realities towards the attainment of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 with Ward 4 of the Bikita Rural District Council spearheading the Musiya and Matsvange Piped Water project as well as the construction of Matsvange Clinic.

In an interview with the Spiked Online Media crew that toured the projects on Saturday, Alderman Samuel Mazarire, the Councillor for Ward 4 in the Bikita Rural District Council said he was instrumental in making the projects a reality in pursuit of attaining the Vision 2030 of Zimbabwe becoming an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.
“The Chiwawa Presidential Piped Water Scheme became a success through the council and community’s hard work after receiving the Presidential allocation. I mobilized the community to provide necessary labour like the digging of trenches following the President’s mantra “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo (A country is built by its citizens). The DDC Bikita and RIDA District water and sanitation sub-committee chairperson worked hard through technical guidance leading to the success of the project. The community contributed positively in appreciation of the President’s hard work.
“The scheme is serving more than 1500 families including the business center, passersby, and motorists. The project will also support income-generating projects like fisheries, cattle rearing, and nutrition gardens,” Councillor Mazarire told Spiked Online Media.
Bright Maduyu, the Spokesperson of the Bikita Residents and Ratepayers Association hailed the construction of the Matsvange Clinic.

“There was no clinic in Ward 4 but the councillor initiated the clinic site plan paving the way to the clinic which is under construction. The councillor motivated people to work toward the clinic project. The community cooperated by sourcing river sand, quarry stones, and cement to boost the project.
“Bikita Rural District Council, together with the (ZANU PF)  party leadership, provided cement to the project. The slab stage was completed and we are working on the superstructure. According to the ward councilor Mr Samuel Mazarire, the project is awaiting devolution funds from the Minister of State and Devolution for Masvingo Province, Hon Ezra Chadzamira. There are promises to have the clinic complete and functional as soon as funds are available. All this is being done in the spirit of leaving no one and no place behind,” Maduyu said.
Dr. Paul Tungwarara, the Presidential Investments Advisor, said the projects in Bikita augur well with initiatives like the Presidential Poultry Scheme, Presidential Input Scheme, Presidential Heifer Scheme, Presidential Borehole, and Goat Scheme, which benefited over 10,000 households across Zimbabwe and resulted in a 14% increase in production.
