Contemporary traditional music songstress, Edith Weutonga, said the untimely death of local hip-hop star, Mgcini Calvin Nhliziyo (35) – aka Cal_Vin is a blow to the music and entertainment industry at large.

Weutonga made the statement during an online interview with this publication earlier today.

“His sudden tragic death left us shocked and in pain.l hope whoever is behind this will be found. The industry is left poorer without him. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said Weutonga.

Popular for hip-hop hits, Bebengangikholwa and Zkhuphani (a collaboration with South African rapper, Casper Nyovest), Cal_Vin lost his life as a result of a hit and run by an unknown motorist.

The incident which claimed the musician’s life occurred a few metres from his Luveve home in Bulawayo, late Saturday night last week.

Meanwhile, police have laid out capable homicide charges against the yet to be identified hit and run motorist and are carrying out investigations to find the driver.
