Celebration Health (CH) the philanthropic medical arm of Celebration Ministries International (CMI) (a locally registered faith-based organisation), has taken the initiative to organise their first ever fundraising run to transport donated medical containers with equipment, furniture and sundries to assist in furbishing our local hospitals and clinics for better healthcare facilities in Zimbabwe.
The event will be held on Saturday 23 February 2019 from 0630am at the Celebration Centre in Borrowdale. Runners will be able to select a race from three (3) options, 5km fun run or walk, 10km or 21km half marathon.
To participate in the run, adults are being asked register today for $15 (fifteen dollars) and children for $5 (five dollars). Runners may make pre-payment online at www.clicknpay.africa and pay using ecocash, telecash, VISA, Mastercard or Zimswitch. For those unable to get online, they may use the Ecocash biller code short key *151*2*1*31470*amount# and enter their full name and preferred race under account number e.g. tomjones10km. Race bibs collection will start on Friday 22 February 2019 between 3pm and 5pm at Celebration Centre or register and run on the morning of the races.
Commenting on this initiative aimed to transform lives, was the medical director of Celebration Health Dr FreeblessingMurahwa said, “Celebration Health organizes many faith-based initiatives working with government and private sector organisations to bring health care and wellness solutions for the vulnerable since 2005. We are encouraging people who are unable to participate in the run to support the cause by making a donation on our biller code, which will benefit our communities and fellow Zimbabweans.” Continuing, Dr Murahwa said, “We are reaching out to local businesses to support and partner with Celebration Health for this worthy cause. As a registered non-profit NGO Celebration Health, endeavours to contribute towards the Ministry of Health and Child Care’s (MOHCC) health care strategic delivery objectives in Zimbabwe.
CH was created in 1996 and started operations in 2005 and was created in response to the health care needs of the underprivileged of our society and in response to Christ’s call to us as believers to do something to “the least of Christ’s brethren.” Their mission is to provide sustainable, holistic community-based health care and wellness solutions for the vulnerable.
To date, Celebration Health has facilitated for 12 x 40ft medical containers for over 50 medical facilities in all 10 provinces in Zimbabwe. They have been involved in responses to the 2008 and 2017 cholera outbreaks, as well and organises numerous medical outreaches with various surgical teams throughout Zimbabwe.
