A South African-based Hip Hop artiste is making waves with a new extended play (EP) record entitled ‘ThrowBack Chronicles’ which he made renditions of popular classing songs .
In an interview from his Cape Town base, Knowledge Muvuti affectionately known as Chronnic revealed that the new project was inspired by popular old school songs which he was giving a new feel.
“The ‘ThrowBackback Chronicles’ is my way of experimenting with music sampling old music with new school beats and style on some of the tracks
“I also infused the trending South African Amapiano beat ,”he said .
The tracks on the EP include Oliver Mtukudzi’s Hazvirevi Rudo Handina, Dolly Parton’s Go Deeper and Shosholoza by Soweto Gospel Choir.
The others songs that complete the EP are Im Alive, I Wanna Love You,and Halleluyah.
The affable musician gives credit to an “awesome production team of Charmza Cee,Sekuru Gudo Pikicha,Softaz and Dj Omo for the splendid work they put in the EP”.
The former Thornhill High student is inspired by international and local musicians that include Tupac, Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, Roki,Maskiri, ExQ and Cde Chinx.
The EP has already started getting airplay on some South African radio stations and will be hitting local stations soon,says Chronnic.
