Murehwa is a district of Mashonaland East in Zimbabwe and it has for the past two years recorded the highest number of mysterious deaths. Most of the deaths are murder cases of passion, rituals, suicide, and culpable homicide.
The questions then that arise are what could really be happening in the district and are there outsiders influencing the community to commit such acts! And all this remains unanswered.
2020 witnessed yet another murder case of a seven (7) year old boy Tapiwa Makore Jnr who was believed to have been killed by some of his family members for ritual purposes. When Tapiwa was found he had some missing body parts.
As if it wasn’t enough during the same year of Tapiwa’s death another suspected murder case of a 28-year-old boy Kudakwashe Mushayavanhu of Marufu Village in the same District was witnessed and a judiciary inquiry to ascertain the facts relating to the incident is underway at Murehwa Magistrates Court.
Kudakwashe was found dead on the 8th of March tied and hanging on a tree at his girlfriend namely Ivy Kamanga’s place of residence.
Kudakwashe was found with a suicide note which some of his family members are refuting it might not have been written by the deceased and are suspecting foul play.
It is believed before Kudakwashe was found dead he had an altercation between himself and his grandmother as well he was assaulted by his girlfriend’s brothers.
Meanwhile, Ivy who is the only witness to have last seen the deceased before he died acted in a way that raised a lot of suspicions.
Ivy admitted in court that on a fateful day she woke up only to find her lover hanging from one of the many mango trees in the yard.
According to her, she panicked and screamed for help but nobody came to assist. Fearing a backlash from her brothers who at some point attacked the deceased, she untied the rope, dragged the deceased for 139 metres to a sekesa tree outside the yard where she again tied him.
During the inquest, Pretty Musikavanhu sister to the deceased queried how a tiny looking Ivy could have managed to do all that to somebody whose
weight was 120kg.
More relatives also questioned the alleged involvement of one Tapiwa Ngorima the son of a local businessman who has a child with Ivy.
There is suspicion Ivy was with a man inside the house when the deceased visited that night.
A voice call extract between Kuda and Ivy proves when he visited a man inside the house who was querying why Ivy was still in bed with the deceased.
When Kuda was finally allowed to enter the house he exclaimed “ah” and the phone went silent.
The issue is not about Ivy but the unknown person whose name is not being disclosed
