Councillor Cosmas “Cossy Rules” Dhaka from Kadoma City’s Ward 11, through his company, has adopted Bonda Road in Waverly Township in an effort to maintain it so it becomes safe and clean for the residents of the high-density township beginning tomorrow.

The launch, spearheaded by Cossy Rules Holdings (CRH) owned by the councillor, will coincide with the monthly National Clean-Up Campaign day held on the first Friday of every month.

The road was in recent years upgraded from a gravel route to a tarmac surface through funding from Zinara.

CRH director Cosmas Dhaka has come on board to foolproof the road against waste accumulation and subsequent damage.

Jeopardy to roads significantly contribute to accidents, at least according to a Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) report.
This normally happens when automobiles develop faults as a result of damaged roads or through the flaunting of road rules by drivers and pedestrians seeking a safe passage.

Bonda Road is one of the strategic loop roads connecting the Waverly suburb to the busy Harare-Bulawayo highway.

The move to adopt the road is meant to present to stakeholders a model corporate road adoption and maintenance undertaking by the holding company in the city.

Director Cllr Cosmas Dhaka made the revelation on Wednesday morning.

“Join us as we embark on a journey to keep your Waverly clean by adopting Bonda Road in the City of Kadoma. We intend to maintain the road so that it becomes safe and clean for us residents and other stakeholders,” said a communique signed by the company.

CRH has other CSR interventions in humanitarian areas.

The latest deployment by CRH is a continuation of corporate social responsibility in waste management efforts that have been running for the past three years in the locality.

Initially, the holding company ventured into the combined waste collection in the ward and hinterlands in partnership with the council.

The two parties each provide vehicles, labour and clean-up material while the council further caters for fuel. The council continues to play its facilitation role.

This time, the director has indicated that they are moving a notch higher to adopt a road for sustainable clean-up and safety. The road is the second to enjoy such status after Mkwati Street in the central business district (CBD) was adopted by a private organisation in recent years.

The clean-up and consequent adoption dovetail into the National Clean-Up Campaign conducted on the first Friday of every month initiated by His Excellency Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa in November 2018.

The vision for a smart nation is a carbon copy of the Rwandan model implemented by President Paul Kagame. The model has yielded world-class results for the tiny African nation.

CRH has interests in mining, real estate, retail, music and earthmoving operations.
