By Desire Tshuma
President Emerson Mnangagwa today received his first jab in Victoria Falls where he and the members of the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD ) flew to launch the Covid 19 Vaccination exercise.
The country recently received the second consignment of 344 000 doses as the second consignment from China. According to the government vaccination exercise, this second category of vaccination is for the elderly, security forces, and the teachers. Today the government began to vaccinate the mentioned category at Wilkins Hospital in Harare.
This publication caught up with one of the elders who expressed joy upon being vaccinated.
”I am happy that I have taken my first jab as I always wished to be one of the first beneficiaries in this category. If my family members qualified in this category they could have come with me for the jab.
”I am an electrical engineer by profession. I believe in scientific evidence and I know that this vaccination is being controlled by the World body which I don’t doubt, ” said James Andrea.
He encouraged more people to get vaccinated. Even though vaccination is optional as proclaimed by President Mnangagwa, Andrea said having the majority of the population vaccinated prevents the spread of the pandemic.
In the meantime, the total number of doses for the first phase of the dose stands at 44 135 while the second dose stands at 1 062.
