The Community Working Group on Health (CWGH) has conveyed its profound and heartfelt congratulations to Advocate Rodgers Matsikidze on his recent appointment as the chairperson of the National Blood Services Zimbabwe (NBSZ).
“It is our firm belief that Adv Matsikidze will take the NBSZ to higher levels of standards of good corporate governance and accountability based on his extensive experience and leadership demonstrated in his previous and current positions including as a board member of the CWGH, trustee of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, a law lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe, a labour lawyer; and renowned academic and author.
“With this versatility of experience and leadership, CWGH has no doubt that Adv Matsikidze is poised to provide the required exemplary leadership at the helm of the NBSZ to restore the people’s confidence in the organisation,” CWGH said in a statement.
The CWGH assured Adv Matsikidze of its unwavering support in his new national responsibility. In doing so, they reminded him not to forget thousands of vulnerable people failing to access blood because of its prohibitive cost, and availability challenges.
“Even as the government prepares to make blood free in public institutions starting in July 2018, we would like to urge Adv Matsikidze and his team to put modalities to avoid stock-outs and to ensure that blood is always available to the vulnerable people when they need it.
“Once gain allow me to congratulate you most warmly both on my behalf and on behalf of the whole CWGH network.”
