In a record-breaking feat, David Mascott Country School emerged as the school with the best Grade 7 results for 2019 in Mashonaland West province in its inaugural examination sitting.
With such a huge achievement, the Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) ranked David Mascott Country School that had a 100% pass rate, number 32nd best in the whole country.
In the country, Aspindale Park School from the Glenview Mufakose District was the best followed by Divaris Makaharis Junior School on second position while Dominican Convent School from the Mbare Hatfield District was the third best respectively.
Mashonaland West Province had seven schools in the Top 50 Best Schools countrywide with David Mascott School leading in the province on Number 32.
It was followed by Dudley Hall on Number 33, Inkomo Garrison on Number 34, Knowe on Number 35, Martindale Catholic on Number 36, Twinlakes on Number 37 and Westview on Number 38 respectively.
In an interview with Spiked Online Media, Mr Peter Nizira, the Deputy Provincial Education Director of Primary Schools in the Mashonaland West Province who officially opened David Mascott Country School in November 2018 was elated by the school’s performance and insisted the fruits were a result of the institution’s compliance with all processes required for registration.
“It gives me great pleasure to learn that David Mascott Country School has emerged as the school in Mashonaland West with the best results for Grade 7 in the year 2019. I am humbled to have officially opened the school and am equally elated by the fact that the staff heeded my call to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in delivering quality education to the students as witnessed by the high pass rate,” Mr. Nizira said.
Apart from emerging as the best school in Mashonaland West Province, David Mascott Country School in 2018 had a pupil whop won an award in agriculture as the best student under the Better Schools Programme Zimbabwe (BSPZ). Last year under the same programme, another student from David Mascott Country School won awards in English and General Paper.
Speaking about the achievements, Mrs Gertrude Mandizvidza, the Founder of David Mascott Country School said she was optimistic of taking the school to even much greater heights as they expand.
“I am most humbled by the hard work put in by the teaching staff led by Mr. Solomon Bonongwe who is the Headmaster of David Mascott Country School. The high pass rate attests to their high professionalism and integrity. Equally hardworking is the staff at Good Care Pre School. Through their combined efforts, I was personally recognized and awarded by respectable institutions in the country,” Mrs Mandizvidza said.
Mrs Mandizvidza, a committed educationist, was awarded the Best MetBank Entrepreneur of the Year for 2019. This was done under the Norton Achievers Awards, which was the first of its kind in the town of Norton.
“It’s quite humbling to be nominated in a community as big as Norton that has many people in different business persuasions cutting across mining, retailing, education, art and culture as well as entrepreneurship. I was equally delighted when I was eventually nominated as the best MetBank Entrepreneur of the Year,” Mrs Mandizvidza said.
Apart from the Norton Achievers’ Award, Mrs Mandizvidza also emerged as the Second Runner Up in the Education Category of the Women in Enterprise Awards for 2019 organised by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC).
