Distributed Power Africa (DPA) is amongst the renewable energy companies that have been contracted for the installations of Solar power for Shoprite Checkers Pty Ltd, the biggest retailer in Africa.

DPA has begun preparations for solar PV at Shoprite stores in Lichtenburg (North West Province), Malelane (Mpumalanga Province) and Waverly (Gauteng province), as they continue to bid for more stores. The first 3 stores are expected to generate more than 1,450 MWh of energy per annum in total. There are 18 Shoprite Checkers retail stores already powered by solar on the Group’s “Green Building” initiative.

DPA has been aggressive in engaging commercial and industrial businesses to adopt hybrid clean energy solutions for energy resilience, reduced costs, and improved carbon footprints.

Their customers include Liquid Intelligent Technologies data centres, Africa Data Centres, UNESCO, Tanganda Tea Company estates, Anglo American Mines, Econet Wireless telecom towers, Boxlee packaging manufacturers, Schweppes juicing plants, Ecobank branches across Africa, and other large industrial and commercial users. The company is at an advanced stage of deploying 45 MW across large industrial users across their operations in Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
