Traditional leaders in Zvimba South Constituency got a boost in carrying out their traditional duties after receiving bicycles from their legislator, Dr. Philip Chiyangwa.

The traditional leaders who have been complaining of incapacitation in carrying out their duties were handed over the bicycles by Zvimba South Legislators who said traditional leaders are critical custodians of the country’s traditional values and champions of community development.

“Realising the importance of the critical role our traditional leaders play in the society, it is important that we rally behind them and see to it they can easily perform their duties in the various communities,” Dr. Chiyangwa said.

“Some of them have to travel long distances to fulfill their duty obligations in ensuring the community social fabric remains intact and in spearheading development. I hope this gesture inspired by President Emerson Mnangagwa’s call in ensuring that no one or place is left behind in economic development activities will go a long way in helping them to fulfill their constitutional mandate,” he said.

Dr. Chiyangwa implored the traditional leaders to promote peace and tolerance in communities as the country gears for the general harmonised elections slated for later this year.

The traditional leaders welcomed the bicycle gifts and said the gesture will go through a long way in allowing them to carry out their duties which include natural resources preservation among others.
