Renowned traditional gospel choir Dzika Mutumwa has promised their legion of fans a musical delicacy when they launch their 10th album in April.

Also known as the International Apostolic Faith Mission Church Choir, the 11-member group has over the years managed to touch many souls, heal and preach through their music.

Formed in 2005, the choir rose to fame in 2006 after their song Jehovah Ndibatsireiwo from their second album Dzika Mutumwa, topped the charts and earned them various awards including the prestigious National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) and Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA).

The video got the third position on the top 50 year-end video countdown on the national broadcaster and that marked the beginning of their journey.

Over the years, the group has been releasing albums almost annually but piracy has been their major stumbling block.

Speaking to this publication, the group’s manager Mr. Pedzisai Mutoma promised fireworks on their looming project.

“We are going to release a single track end of March and the album in April. We will announce the actual album release date as soon as possible,” he said.

The album, which they are working with a household name in the music production field, Makumbe Productions, carries eight tracks.

The choir has managed to beat the test of time, including the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic and on the forthcoming album, fans can stream their music on digital platforms such as Gateway Stream, Spotify, iTunes among others.

“COVID-19 had a more negative impact on our journey but on the other hand, it was a learning phase because we now know how to utilize social media in our works.

“Our first album is still stuck on the cassettes and some are on CDs but it is different now because most of the work is now digital. The Internet is also an archive and even in the next century our music will still be there,” he added.
