Zimbabwe’s national one-day cricket competition, the Pro50 Championship, will get underway this week, with defending champions Eagles facing Mountaineers in back-to-back fixtures set for Tuesday and Wednesday at Harare Sports Club.
When they last met in arguably the most thrilling match of this tournament last season, Eagles, after being bundled out for 181, defended their paltry total to defeat Mountaineers by one run in Mutare.
The two sides had also met the previous day, with Eagles routing their hosts by 127 runs.
This time round the double-header clash is expected to be another blockbuster affair, with Eagles, who did not lose a single match in last season’s Pro50 Championship campaign, carrying the favourites tag.
Also on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Tuskers will be hosting Rangers in back-to-back matches at Queens Sports Club.
Tuskers, who reached the Pro50 Championship final last season, will be eager to get their white-ball campaign off to a good start against a side playing their first ever List A game.
Rhinos will be on a bye and will only get into action on Saturday when they face Eagles at Harare Sports Club, while on the same day Tuskers and Mountaineers will be tussling it out at Old Hararians Sports Club.
