Educationist and philanthropist Dr Gertrude Mandizvidza flying high

Renowned Norton-based educationist and philanthropist, Dr. Gertrude Mandizvidza is flying high in as far as personal and professional development is concerned.

Famed for leading the Good Care Pre-School and David Mascott Country School in the agricultural and mining town of Norton to many academic accolades, Dr. Mandizvidza extends her influence into the community where she runs philanthropic work cascading from assisting the underprivileged to helping children of incarcerated mothers.

Good Care Pre-School has won many awards from the time it was established and registered with the Ministry of Education up to this day.

In 2018, Good Care was awarded as the best pre-school by the prestigious Zimbabwe Business Awards for the Northern Region. The Zimbabwe Business Awards Council hosts the prestigious Zimbabwe Business Awards in the Republic of Zimbabwe. They are the centre of the celebration of excellence, inspiration within the Zimbabwe business community that symbolises and celebrates Zimbabwean people.

In the same year, the Zimbabwe National Women’s Awards conferred on Good Care Pre-School an award that was in special recognition as the best Early Child Development Leadership centre of excellence led by a woman – Dr. Gertrude Mandizvidza. The Zimbabwe National Women’s Awards are a celebration of excellence, inspiration, and success by Zimbabwean women.

David Mascott Country School has maintained a 100 percent pass rate at Grade 7 since 2017 and has always been the best school in Mashonaland West Province. Despite the academic accolades, it has also won awards as the best agricultural centre of excellence, and the best school in the quiz competition.

Such achievements apart from her philanthropic work have earned Dr. Mandizvidza a number of doctoral awards from reputable universities.

The International Institute of Philanthropy for the Advancement of Humanity this year awarded Dr. Mandizvidza a Doctorate of Human Letters Degree for her significant contributions to humanity, society and philanthropy. She has also been admitted as a fellow for the same institution.

Still, in 2021, the International Women’s University also awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Business Leadership Degree for her contribution to humanity, society and philanthropy.

The sky is the limit for her. Achievements continue to flow for the role model of excellence in society. The International University of Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership also awarded her an Honorary Doctorate of Entrepreneurship and Business Leadership degree.

To put the icing on the cake, Dr. Mandizvidza was the second runner-up in the Women in Enterprise Conference Awards by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) in the 2020 Education category.
