The Elsie Princess Foundation Zimbabwe (EPFZ) which has its headquarters in Harare is rolling out community uplifting programs nationwide with the objective of ending poverty among different communities in the country.
Spiked Online Media news caught up with this foundation in Mutasa North, ward 3 while it was distributing chicks and poultry feeds, flour for bakeries, and rabbits and giving face masks to individuals and schools. EPFZ is targeting all the 13 wards in Mutasa North. The director and founder of EPFZ, Miss Elsie Princess Zindi said that the aim of her foundation was to do away with poverty in all communities in the country.
”I was touched by the plight of some people in the communities that we live in, especially those living in absolute poverty. With this in mind, I started going around consulting some stakeholders and pooling resources in cash and kind to support such people. Many stakeholders came on board and managed to fund and sponsor my humanitarian foundation,” said Zindi.
”EPFZ is a humanitarian foundation not aligned to politics. We are still establishing our branches in all corners of the country and no one is left behind regardless of political affiliation. The difference in political affiliation doesn’t mean someone should be left out and succumb to hunger,” added Zindi.
Among the beneficiaries of EPFZ is Zindi Primary School that got a donation of flour for baking bread and buns. The profits shall buy stationery for underprivileged pupils.
EPFZ has experts who train communities on how to keep poultry, baking, beekeeping, and many other community-based entrepreneurial activities countrywide. The manager for the foundation, Mr. Mutambara said this week they are distributing 50 000 roadrunners in 13 wards in Mutasa North to individuals who had already requested the supply.
”We have engaged councillors around the district and they are very grateful about our humanitarian work. Anyone who needs assistance whom we haven’t yet identified is free to visit our offices or call us,” elaborated Mr. Mutambara.
“Some may think that it’s a vote associated foundation but no, we have been donating and uplifting the needy since the establishment of his foundation in 2014. We also help the orphans, people with disabilities, and the elderly in communities. We pay school fees for the orphans and give food packs to the disabled and the elderly,” Mutambara added.
The initiative, according to Ms. Zindi, is a calling from God. She urged detractors to desist from politicising the programme since it is targetted to uplift the less privileged members of the community including orphans, people with disabilities and the elderly.
