Freddie Gwala, Jeys Marabini to Headline “Rhythms of Southern Africa: A Musical Journey” UK November Tour

From 4 November 2023 renowned legendary artists Freddie Gwala, and Jeys Marabini who have been players in the arts industry for over 30 years will be meeting in the UK for the historic tour themed Headline “Rhythms of Southern Africa: A Musical Journey” hosted by Shanyai Events.

The two Southern Africa-based stars, Freddie Gwala who will be coming from South Africa, and Jeys Marabini from Bulawayo Zimbabwe will be taking their audience back to memory lane with their classic tunes.

With them on this tour will be Tshedi-Malaika (South Africa), Agga Nyabinde, Lady Bee, and Ma9nine from Zimbabwe.

They will be joined by UK-based artists Linos Wengara Magaya, Sisa Senkosi, Meduulla and Leroi Houdini.

About the artists

Freddie Gwala was born in Soweto, South Africa. In 1973, Gwala and his brothers founded the ensemble Pure Gold, which marked the start of his musical career. Later on, he co-founded the band, Platform One. Gwala has contributed to albums for musicians like Brenda Fassie. With hits like his timeless song “Amadamara,” which Freddie’s name is inextricably linked to. Gwala is recognized as the originator of the “Zumba” genre, which is a blend of afro-disco and soul music

Jeys Marabini Jeys has garnered an international reputation over his long career. He has produced 10 albums that have found success with listeners in Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and other countries. In Southern Africa, Jeys has become a musical icon thanks to his ability to meld traditional African rhythms with modern sounds.

Tshedi-Malaika, born Matshediso Florence Mholo, is a South African-born Afro-pop sensation who has transcended humble beginnings to become a shining star in the music industry. While she first gained recognition as the lead singer of the renowned group Malaika, her journey extends far beyond those early successes. With a unique blend of confidence, strength, and genuine talent, she has carved out her own identity in the industry and earned a reputation as a multifaceted artist, entertainer, and philanthropist. Her rapidly growing fan base attests to her magnetic aura, passionate charisma, and unwavering dedication to her craft.

Aga Nyabinde the lead singer of the group 2 Nice Band, is an Afro-fusion musician. Traditional Zimbabwean rhythms combined with a hint of Afro jazz have a big impact on the band’s sound.

Agga is a nominee for Best Traditional and Best Afro Jazz Music at the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA). His albums Kushanda and Basa have gained credit in the arts arena.

Lady Bee, whose real name is Brenda Bechani is a dancehall performer from Zimbabwe who has recently softened her explicit songs and dance techniques. She has already performed on numerous worldwide tours, commanding a powerful theatrical presence.

Ma9nine Ma9nine is a rising artist in the music scene of Zimbabwe. He is a potential prospect in the industry because of the attention that his unique and energetic approach to music has received. He has drawn comparisons to the late Soul Jah Love because of his Ndebele Zimdancehall lyrics, which he occasionally mimics in his own tongue.
