Rufaro Muzhingi, a talented singer from the rural village of Wedza Rutinhira in Zimbabwe, has risen to become a recording artist and leader of the renowned Masaisai Egungwa gospel group based in South Africa, fulfilling her musical calling that developed at her church.
Her journey from an ordinary singer in her local church to an international sensation is nothing short of a dream fulfilled in a foreign land.
Rufaro’s musical talent, which she believes is a divine gift, blossomed within the walls of St John Apostolic Church, led by the esteemed Dr Bishop Sydney Mabhiza.
In a recent interview, she reminisced about her childhood, saying,
“I grew up with a beautiful voice, and singing was always my passion. But in a small town like Wedza, recognition doesn’t come easily unless you fight harder.”
Acknowledging the significant role her church played in nurturing her talent, Rufaro added, “My church has truly been the cornerstone in shaping and nurturing me into the musician I am today.”
The young artist has received overwhelming acceptance for her music, both within churches and on social media platforms.
“People are embracing our music wholeheartedly,” Rufaro shared. “We’ve witnessed the tremendous growth of our social media pages, which reflects the immense support we’re receiving.”
With one album already under her belt, Rufaro has collaborated with Pastor Norest Matende on the hit single “Timbotaure Nomweya,” and she has exciting plans to release two more singles, one featuring Pastor Trymore Bande and another with the popular group Vashumiri Vashe.
These collaborations are eagerly anticipated by her ever-growing fan base.
Embracing her newfound success, Rufaro is also venturing into live performances. She is set to embark on a series of shows, captivating audiences with her powerful vocals and heartfelt lyrics.
