Gandiwa Village in Mhondoro Mubaira recently hosted a successful field day at the Mandizvidza homestead, attracting numerous organizations and companies. The event, held in Ward 5 of Chief Rwizi’s area, showcased the growing interest in the farming industry.

Guest of honor, Mrs. Ndoro, the Provincial Deputy Director of Agritex, expressed her amazement at the project’s progress, highlighting the significance of farming in achieving the President’s 2030 motto and the “leaving no one behind” initiative. She encouraged farmers to adopt Pfumvudza Intwasa farming methods and take farming seriously.

The initiative has brought hope to small-scale farmers by promoting efficient land use under the theme “Small-Scale Land and a Greater Harvest.” Valley Seed and Agreseed, agricultural companies, were also present, providing inputs for farming. Agritex pledged to continue supporting farmers to ensure everyone benefits from farming.

The Mandizvidza family practices organic farming, using their organic fertilizer and avoiding synthetic fertilizers.

“We aim to address health issues by introducing organic supplements and food, promoting good health. We are appealing for capital from the government and other funding sources to employ and support self-sufficient individuals, thereby reducing poverty in the community,” Mrs Gertrude Mandizvidza said.

The farmer also requested road restructuring to facilitate the transportation of goods and services.

Mr. Matongo from Valley Seed and Mr. Shava from Agreseed encouraged farmers to adopt proper farming principles and practices, including irrigation schemes and organic farming.

Mrs. Chivavaya, an MP’s representative, praised the event’s organization and the farmers’ confidence. Chief Rwizi expressed his admiration and encouraged everyone to emulate the Mandizvidza family’s practices that promote food and nutrition security.
