Gospel music’s new darling: Caroline Chidzikwe’s rise to fame

Rising like a star from the eastern highlands of Zimbabwe, Caroline Chidzikwe is taking the gospel music scene by storm.
Hailing from Mutare, this talented songstress has been making waves with her powerful voice, heartfelt lyrics, and infectious melodies.
With a unique sound that blends holy rhythms with modern gospel beats, Mai Chidzikwe is captivating audiences and inspiring souls.
Her journey to stardom which started in 2019 with debut singles, Zvosiyana and Mutsvene Mutsvene is a testament to her dedication, passion, and faith.
“l want to give glory to God for this blessing of releasing music to the people. I want to thank my camp, the Throne Worshippers for their determination. I want to acknowledge and pay tribute to institutions and individuals in their various capacities who have immensely contributed to my rapid progress and smoothened my musical passage,” said Mai Chidzikwe.
The fast-rising musician has worked with various refined producers including Ollin Anderson of Kunashe Studios in Mutare.
Anderson, a music producer of note, who has been producing songs of Dorcas Moyo, Blessing Shumba, and Agatha Murudzwa among other top artists, is the brains behind Mai Chidzikwe’s latest album Mwari Munoshamisa that has taken the music industry by storm.
Under the Kunashe Studios flagship, Mai Chidzikwe has released six singles, Zvosiyana and Mutsvene Mutsvene both in 2019.
She released Handitye (2020), Anokuda Jesu, and Zita Renyu Jesu both in 2021.
She followed with Munozvigona in 2022.
Mwari Munoshamisa has opened avenues of success for the talented musician who is endowed with a syrupy voice.
To create versatility in her music, Mai Chidzikwe has worked with other producers including Lyton Ngolomi of Lighton Studios based in Harare.
With Ngolomi, she released her debut album, Zvinoda Mutsimba, in 2020.
Mutare-based producer, Emmanuel Musindo, of 24/ 7 studios, was also handy in shaping up her career with single productions, Fambai Neni (2022), Hariperi Simba, and Jesu Mupenyu both in 2023.
Mai Chidzikwe paid profound tribute to gospel sensation, Dorcas Moyo.
“Dorcas Moyo and her management have been a vital force in taking my band’s career to the next level. In my informative years, Dorcas Moyo provided me with a perfect platform to showcase my talent during live performances,” she said.
“Our rapport has continued to blossom over the years as we shared the stage on countless occasions and have worked with her on various occasions. I have also worked with various musicians in and outside Mutare and l have enjoyed the professional working relationship,” Mai Chidzikwe added.
Her fans have been the major driving force.
“I am completely overwhelmed with gratitude when I think about how my fans have supported me on this journey. They have been my rock, my encouragement, and my motivation. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said the gifted vocalist.
“They were the ones who spread the word about my music, who shared my songs on social media, and who told their friends and family about me and my musical motive,” Mai Chidzikwe said.
“So to my fans, I want to say thank you. Thank you for believing in me, for supporting me, and for being part of this journey. I am honored to have you along for the ride, and I promise to keep making music that inspires, uplifts, and blesses you,” she said.
